I know this review may be hard to believe with all the “positive” ones on here. But for anyone looking for a honest and professional small business to help with their shades, this is a sincere warning to stay away from Matt and Shadows Design. This is the truth about them. My legal team has confirmed that I can take Matt to court for damages to my home, multiple lies, and failure to provide the full service as promised. He knows that I have all of the evidence. If he attempts to take this review down or twist what happened like he tried and failed on Yelp, I will gladly begin legal action and enjoy the compensation I receive. Here is the astonishing list of things that went wrong dealing with Matt and his business. 1. Matt scratched and dented my wall in multiple places (neglected to bring a 2nd guy for my high window knowing I had a high window, then damaged my wall) 2. Lied that they were only minor paint scratches in his response to my Yelp review. That’s not a smart move with the photos here and the fill-in evidence I have. 3. Incorrectly measured my window and brought shades that were too big (had to come back again after cutting it) 4. After bringing two guys, one of the installers incorrectly installed the fascia. 5. One of them suggested a laser measurement in a separate visit to show that the shades weren’t crooked but that my wall was. Then denied he ever suggested that for me. Then Matt said there’s probably a language barrier. That’s funny. The installer spoke perfect English to me. 6. On the third visit, Matt filled in the damage but the paint was completely different a week later after drying. Then he ghosted me after I pointed it out. The photo is attached. 7. They tried setting up my app connection to the shade motor, failed after a while, said that my WiFi needed 2.4GHz to connect, then ghosted me after I told them I confirmed with my WiFi company that my WiFi was already on 2.4. Then he lied on Yelp that it was still my problem. The texts are in the photo attached. 8. He lied that I was threatening a negative review for him. What?? Another photo here shows that despite all of his problems, he asked me for a nice review. I don’t know how I had the patience to oblige. But because they gave me a good price and we ended on good terms, I prepared a decent review and was ready to put everything aside. But the last few problems (the wrong paint job, failure to connect my app to the motor, then ghosting me) were the last straws. I wrote a fully transparent review on Yelp after that. 9. Instead of taking accountability, he tried lying multiple times in response. He even deflected blame saying it was my fault that we had to reschedule one visit, that I didn’t schedule with my building. The strictness of my building management has nothing to do with any of the problems that Matt caused me. It caught us all by surprise that we needed approval for a simple installation. And we laughed about how ridiculous it was. So we just rescheduled until my building approved me. In conclusion, his desperate attempts at lying about me and covering up his problems show how far he’s willing to go to look like a professional to the outside world. It’s really eye-opening. For a few business owners out there, it’s incredibly difficult for them to take even an ounce of accountability for the mountain of problems they caused a customer. Ghosting and lying to cover up their problems is what they do instead. Unfortunately, Matt is one of them. Let’s see if he tries to lie and point his finger at me again.Posted on Shabnam MelwaniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
